SCCES joins nationwide Project WATCH kick-off

More than 80 supervisors, school heads and WATCH coordinators from the Division of Davao del Sur, and over 1,900 pupils, teachers, parents and other stakeholders of Santa Cruz Central Elementary School (SCCES) gathered at the school gymnasium last June 24 to celebrate the nationwide simultaneous kick-off of Project WATCH.

Project WATCH or We Advocate Time Consciousness and Honesty aims to inculcate to the Filipino youth the values of punctuality and honesty and to put these values into practice. This year’s kick-off program carried the theme, “Pushing forward: Strengthen the core values of honesty and punctuality beyond limits.”

In her message to all the participants, SCCES principal Dr. Hazel V. Luna believed that Project WATCH would save the next generations.

“We want for our students to know the importance of punctuality and honesty and we also want the Filipinos to change, especially those who are always late and dishonest. SCCES, with or without contest, will extend the importance of Project WATCH for we believe that this project will save the future generations,” she said.

Moreover, SCCES PTA President Ronald Cruda encouraged students and teachers to apply the WATCH values in their lives and challenged the school to better its WATCH implementation in 2018.

“We should apply this Project WATCH for we were awarded as 1st runner-up in the national level last year. We need to improve what we did last year. And we are very proud and honored that we have these values of honesty and punctuality,” he said.

One of the highlights of the program was the presentation of SCCES’ WATCH Heroes – namely Alexis Gonzales, Koddy Bentinganan and Chriserl Nicolas Arreglo – who made the school proud because of their honesty by returning big amount of money they found to the owners. Also honored were the most punctual and honest teachers and barangay employees of Zone 3, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Participants were also entertained by various student presentations such as beatboxing, ukulele ensemble, jingles, community dance and yells. Towards the end of the program, they circled the school plaza for the flying of balloons, signaling the start of this year’s implementation of Project WATCH.

Part two of the program was the benchmarking activity and orientation of school heads and coordinators about the Project WATCH implementation.

“We are glad to welcome them all and we prepared an exhibit so they can see our different WATCH activities and for us to share our best practices with regard to our implementation and sustainability of this project,” Luna said.

During the orientation, EPS-SGOD and former Division WATCH Coordinator Dr. Clarence S. Pillerin encouraged them to come up with their own WATCH activities and then submit their narrative accomplishment report every semester.
